The voices of eco-activists and Ukrainian artists on Berlin radio
On March 26, our third radio show focused on environmental awareness and Ukrainian cultural resilience. Hosted by Sofiia and Lisa, “Compango – Green Voices” told the stories of those who are not only talking about change, but also putting it into action.
The first block of the program introduced a few Compango volunteers. Their personal stories showed how the war in Ukraine and environmental challenges converge in their lives.
The second block took the audience into the world of the Berlin recycling organizations “Alba” and “Water to Wine”. Armed with microphones, Yuliia and Anastasia revealed the secrets of how new things can be created from waste.
The third block was a journey into the world of upcycling with the initiatives “Bolsos” and “Sekundärschick”. Lisa enthusiastically told the stories of Britta, Sigrid and Stefanie, who make stylish accessories from old banners and flags.
In the fourth block, Lisa conducted an interview with Vika Temnova, who organizes flea markets in Berlin. Vika talked about her motivation and how flea markets become a platform for supporting Ukrainian artists and raising funds for Ukraine. After the interview, Sofiia and Lisa shared their personal experiences of participating in flea markets and compared their atmosphere in Ukraine and Germany. They talked about meeting interesting people and how flea markets can be a platform for sharing ideas and supporting local eco-initiatives.
The program was filled with music from Ukrainian artists, each an individual storyteller. Lisa carefully selected music from Nearr, ліза падліза, левко, Death Rate a Politics, Фангус Фрог and Anastimosa & KUSK, adding context to each track.
At the end, Sofiia and Lisa invited the audience to the next show on April 9 and promised more stories and ideas. With “Compango – Green Voices”, we not only want to make radio, but also offer a platform for those who want to change the world a little bit for the better.
